Anxiety Coaching for the Type-A, Perfectionist

1:1 online coaching designed for the
struggles of high-functioning anxiety.

In the whirlwind of life, it's easy to believe that if you're functional and successful, you're thriving.

But for many of the people I work with, productivity and achievement mask an unseen battle with anxiety. If you're constantly juggling responsibilities and outwardly excelling in your endeavors, yet feeling overwhelmed by persistent stress and worries, you're not alone. High-functioning anxiety isn't always visible, but its impact on daily life and well-being can be profound.

Living with anxiety is exhausting and isolating. Anxiety coaching can help.

Can you relate to any of these challenges?

  • Finding it hard to set boundaries or say no

  • Constantly worrying that others are upset or judging you

  • Suffering from persistent, excessive worry

  • Feeling irritable, on edge, or easily agitated

  • Experiencing frequent feelings of resentment toward loved ones

  • Always dwelling on worst-case scenarios

  • Struggling with insomnia due to anxiety

  • Experiencing changes in appetite or weight

  • Difficulty relaxing or slowing down

If so, I see you. And as your anxiety coach, I’m here to show you another way.

It might feel like you’re trapped in a cycle of anxiety, perfectionism, and overachievement, but freedom from constant underlying anxiety is within your reach.

The path toward greater peace, resilience, and fulfillment starts with acknowledging your struggle and seeking the support you deserve.

My coaching approach is centered on evidence-based therapy techniques and personalized support.

Together, we'll find the root causes of your anxiety and create tailored strategies to help you flourish and thrive in your life – not just endure.

Meet Justine, your mental health coach for anxiety.

I’m Justine Carino, a licensed mental health counselor and anxiety coach. I have a private practice based in New York and Connecticut and also host the mental health podcast, Thoughts from the Couch. I’ve been featured on the top-charting Self-Helpless Podcast, Forbes, Cosmopolitan Magazine, The Huffington Post, News 12, and hired as a wellness speaker for employees of Lockheed Martin and Eileen Fisher. I have also been interviewed on over 40 podcasts.

With over 12 years of clinical experience in treating anxiety disorders, I’ve supported hundreds of ambitious, high-functioning women in dialing down their inner anxieties.

If there’s one thing I know, it’s that a fast-paced, high-stakes lifestyle works really well—until it doesn’t anymore.

The main driver behind your perfectionism, type-A personality, and ambition is anxiety. Anxiety can be a great motivator. It keeps you going day after day and helps you achieve your goals.

The problem is that living with daily anxiety is unsustainable.

It’s like speeding your car down the highway in second gear: it’ll get you where you need to go, but it completely wears down your engine if you do it for too long.

Living with persistent underlying stress and worry is the same. It causes you to become burned out, wound up, and resentful. It feels like you’re holding together all the pieces of your life by a thread that might snap any minute.

I get it because I’ve been there.

As a mom of two young children, a working professional, and a perfectionist myself, I’ve been in your shoes.

I know the pressure on you as an academic, a professional, a partner, or a parent to do it all and be the best. You need to be the best at your job, the best student in your class, the best friend or spouse or parent. Everything feels urgent and important. You take pride in your career and personal life, and you don’t know how you’d even begin to prioritize some things over others.

But you also know that something’s got to give.

The more you try to white-knuckle your way through life, the more your anxiety weighs on you. You’re high-functioning and pride yourself on your ability to get through anything, but it seems like there’s got to be a better way—a way that’s less exhausting and stressful.

I’m here to tell you there is. Learning how to reduce your anxiety and live a more values-aligned life is possible for you. As your anxiety coach, I’ll help you get there.

  • Are high functioning and achieve what you need to, but want to break free from the exhaustion of constant hustle

  • Want to find more balance, calm, and peace in your life

  • Feel like you’re playing a game of Jenga with life – one wrong move, and everything topples over

Sound like you? I’ve got you.

Throughout our anxiety coaching program, I’ll guide you through a structured, evidence-based curriculum designed to equip you with essential knowledge and skills to soothe your anxiety.

Coaching sessions are 60 minutes in length and take place on Zoom. I also provide Voxer access between our sessions to help you implement the strategies throughout your week. I walk you through my anxiety treatment curriculum and also provide PDFs and other resources to help you manage your anxiety. It usually takes my clients about 8-10 sessions to learn all the skills I teach and apply them to their lives.

Here’s what we’ll cover during sessions:

  1. Understanding anxiety: exploring its origins and impact on your life

  2. Cultivating mindfulness and presence

  3. Implementing cognitive behavioral therapy techniques
    These include:

    • Recognizing and challenging cognitive distortions

    • Addressing negative self-talk and core beliefs

    • Unpacking ingrained patterns such as people-pleasing and perfectionism

    • Harnessing affirmations and positive self-talk to foster self-compassion

    • Tailoring habits to optimize mental well-being

    • Crafting a personalized mental health routine

  4. Establishing healthy boundaries

  5. Aligning your actions with your core values for authentic living

I’m here to tell you that you can go

from this…

❌ Needing to do it all and be the best

❌Chasing approval, success, and accolades

  • “Working with Justine was a fantastic choice and I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone out there.”

I have been working with Justine for the last nine months after learning about perfectionism procrastination on her website, a term I'd never heard before and yet instantly realized applied to me. After the initial consultation, I had a very good feeling about continuing on with her, and that feeling has been validated in every session we've had since. Looking for a good counselor/therapist/life coach is a daunting task, and she is that person you always hope your new therapist will be. She is knowledgeable, respectful, encouraging, even funny at times, and cultivates an environment where I feel comfortable opening up. She is responsive and insightful on the Voxer app as well with any issues I bring up between sessions. A true professional. I've talked to friends who complain about their therapists being late to sessions or forgetting what client they're with or being unengaged. Not here! I feel equipped with a new vocabulary and set of tools that I can use to recognize and harness my perfectionism. She has also helped immeasurably with my grief at the passing of a loved one too, and part of her strength lies in the flexibility to adapt to what I'm dealing with on any given week. If we need to talk about perfectionism, we do. If we need to talk about grief, we do, and she gives effective tools for both short term and long term management of these issues. As someone who often second guesses my decisions, I can say unequivocally that working with Justine was a fantastic choice and I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone out there.

As someone who has been dealing with anxiety almost all of her life, I have always looked for ways to help me manage my anxiety. I love that Justine gives many different and honestly doable options to help manage your anxiety on a daily basis. She gives lots of great information that doesn’t go way over your head. It’s easy to follow, understand, and I use her tips quite frequently when I need my anxiety to kick butt. For anyone looking for anxiety relief and need an extra push on how to do it, this program is for you!”

  • “I would highly recommend Justine to anyone. ”

“I had two genogram sessions with Justine and I have not been able to stop thinking about it. The sessions made me truly reflect on my family dynamic in such a new lens where I now can understand where some of my limiting beliefs, and fears come from. I originally was interested in the genogram session with Justine to help me uncover the fear of speaking up, and using my voice in my professional life, but also my personal life. Setting boundaries, and speaking up has always been a challenge for me for as long as I remember. After the session with Justine we uncovered some common patterns that made understanding where my limiting beliefs stemmed from. I'm now more conscious of understanding my limiting beliefs and fears, and am taking action toward facing them more proactively. Other than that, it was just so lovely connecting with Justine, she makes you feel SO incredibly comfortable, and at ease. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Packages are tailored to the unique needs of the client after a 20-minute consultation.

Each 60-minute session costs $300. I recommend that we meet every two weeks to see the quickest results. This includes the between session Voxer support.

  • The difference is mainly in the severity of symptoms – my coaching clients aren’t having suicidal thoughts, self-harming behaviors, or debilitating panic attacks.

If you’re having an emotional crisis or are experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviors, go to your nearest emergency room or call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988 right away.

Another difference is that I can work with you anywhere you live as your anxiety coach, whereas therapy requires that you reside in either Connecticut or New York state.

  • I do not offer refunds. This is my intellectual property that took years to build, refine, and test for efficacy. However, we’ll have a free 20-minute consultation to ensure anxiety coaching is a good fit for you, and I always tailor coaching to your specific needs.
